Open and lip Channels
Punched, Pin marked and Rolled to Size
Tubecon has the capacity to manufacture a variety of cold-formed steel open sections catering for a wide spectrum of industries in South Africa. Steel lip channels are commonly used in steel construction and carports, to name a few. Being able to roll these open channels from a variety of materials, including pre-galvanized Z275 (and similar) as well as 3CR12 stainless steel, we provide our customers with a solution for the majority of their steel and structural problems.
Our computer-controlled equipment and the latest production technology enables us to cold form almost any steel U-Channel, lip channel or open profile to the custom requirements of our customers. We add value to the order by:
- 1. Rolling to length and within the customer's tolerance preference
- 2. Pre-punched (also known as in-line punching) holes
- 3. Pin marking according to the drawing number provided
The table below indicates sizes, material and wall thickness combinations of common cold formed steel open sections and lip channels

Lipped Angles
Lipped angles, also known in the market as lipped purlins, is a common profile used in the construction industry in South Africa. Similar to lip channels, Tubecon cold forms these steel sections, tailor-made for our customer's requirements, with the same value-added options and manufactured from various materials including SAE1008, S355, Z275 and others.
True to our policy, fast delivery times and special lengths apply as much to this product as they do to our steel tubing. With branches in Cape Town and Pretoria, and regular trucks to Bloemfontein and Durban the finished steel sections can be delivered all over South Africa.
