The recent acquisition of rolls to draw large diameter cold formed steel tubes with thick wall thicknesses from round to square and rectangular steel tubes has increased Tubecon's product offering to the South African market dramatically.
We use the term 'Big Bore' for tubing consisting of outside diameters of 175 and upwards and heavier wall thicknesses ranging from 3mm to 12mm which is the standard for hollow sections supplied in the South African market. Making use of a drawing process, Tubecon is able to convert these larger than average welded hollow sections from round steel tubes to square and rectangular steel tubes.
These larger than average cold-formed welded hollow sections are used in various industries over Southern Africa. Big Bore tubes are referred to by different names across different industries.
