Mechanical Design Engineer
Introduction:
As a steel tube and profile manufacturer we develop our own processes and machinery. To this end Tubecon has a well staffed and well equipped engineering department. Due to a growing number of demanding and challenging projects we are hoping to expand the department with an extra mechanical engineer.
General:
Tubecon's engineers are involved in real machine design and development.
Starting from concept, the engineers conceive solutions for technical problems; design the solution and manage the implementation of their own projects
They are often also involved in matters of management, applying their analytical skills to problems outside the strictly technical realm.
Minimum Requirements and Qualifications:
The candidate must:
- Want to design
- Be a qualified engineer with a BEng or BTech.
- Have a certain affinity with machines and the development thereof.
- Have a flexible and constructive frame of mind.
- Be energetic and diligent.
- Be creative.
- Be able to communicate well in English. Both spoken and written.
- Prepared to get his hands dirty once in a while.
- Solidworks experience.
The following attributes in the candidate would be beneficial:
- Electrical knowledge. Mechatronic.
- Programming Skills.
Experience
Preferably 1 or 2 working years, but graduates with good academic results will also be considered. Salary will be related to both experience and level of capability.
The successful candidate should have structured, tidy and reliable method of working. Must be able to instruct and work with others. Must be able to organise his own work schedule.

New Business Developer
As new business developer you will be responsible for driving new business opportunities in new markets engaging in strategic analysis, marketing, sales and product development. You will be responsible for the profit that the company can gain from the new markets and must compare this to the costs that the company might incur. You will be researching market developments, product developments, trends, possible threats, opportunities and new leads.

The internal sales representative is someone who strengthens the current sales force. Machinist Tool Room Supervisor
As machinist tool room supervisor you will be working closely with both the engineering department and the production floor. You will be responsible for the coordination and effective management of all the manufactured items going through the tool room in order to meet the customer demand. Making sure that Tubecon's tubing quality remains of high standard and conform to customer specifications utilizing systems such as ISO9001.
Tour daily activities will involve organizing preventative maintenance shcedules for tool room machines as well as checking, creating and maintaining manufacturing routes for all manufactured tooling parts. Your Profile:
- Between 24 and 35 years
- A "can do" attitude and ability to work well with others.
- Have an affinity with tools.
- Finished a 4-year apprenticeship in tool making.
- Knowledge of both high volume / high value engineering manufacturing.
- Understanding or experience of working with a design engineering environment. You will be trained in drawing with CAD.
- Be able to make decisions and work without supervision.
- Good understanding of the English and Afrikaans language, both verbal and written.
- Experience in both conventional and CNC mill machines and lathes.
Your Tasks
- To manage the tool room and team members by providing structure and organization for tooling maintenance and repair in the support of production operations per customer requirements and specifications.
- Plan, evaluate and organize the tool room and team member activities.
- Work to continuously improve tooling, minimize downtime and reduce scrap.
- Gather and update work order due dates and communicate to relevant parties.
- Keep Tubecon's quality high and conformant to customer specifications utilizing systems such as ISO9001.
- Keeping production operations running in the manufacturing environment, performance under pressure, supervising team members.
- Coordination and effective management of all the manufactured items to meet customer demands.

Software Developer
Software developers at Tubecon are the brains behind the design, installation, testing and maintenance of Tubecon's software systems. As software developer you will be working with a group of dynamic, bright and world class developers in Europe as well as in South Africa. You will have the opportunity to have ownership of various IT projects and develop new and existing software. You will also have the opportunity to learn the latest software development tools and expand on your existing software language knowledge using C++, C#, VB and SQL. The software developer plays an important part in making Tubecon more efficient and helping Tubecon to provide a better service.
Your Profile:
- Age between 18 and 28.
- A bachelor degree in software development or much experience in using C#, C++, VB and SQL.
- Proficiency in C#, C++, VB and SQL.
- A passion for software development.
- Good understanding of the English and Afrikaans language, both spoken and written.
Your Tasks:
- Application development using C#, C++, VB, SQL and other software development tools.

Maintenance Technician
As maintenance technician you will maintain Tubecon's production assets. you will be responsible for the diagnosis, troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of electronic-, electrical- and mechanical systems and equipment. You will also be responsible for the installation of all production related equipment ensuring an efficient manufacturing process at all times. You will work both indoors and outdoors making sure that Tubecon's production machinery works correctly as well as assisting local and regional personnel in the development of safety procedures and policies for specific systems.

Profile:
- Between 18-29 years.
- You are a qualified artisan or currently studying.
- Have at least 2 years' experience in maintenance at a large industrial firm.
- Have a hands-on approach.
- Excellent organizational skills and problem solving skills.
- Knowledge of mechanical drives, hydraulics and cranes systems, plus basic electrical knowledge.
- Willingness to work extended hours.
- Must be able to use technical knowledge and maintenance history of mechanical equipment to develop and implement preventative maintenance programs.
- Experience in fitting and turning.
Your Tasks:
- Maintain, test and repair electrical and mechanical equipment and other production assets.
- Also clean and lubricate machinery, perform diagnostic tests, check performance and test machine parts.
- Reducing equipment delays and repair costs by reviewing delay in performance of all equipment.
- Investigating operational and technical issues, leads troubleshooting activities, resolves problems and thoroughly document activities.
- Create safety procedures, maintenance programs and operation schedules.
- Negotiating with vendors and suppliers.
- Candidate will perform administrative activities such daily meintenance reports conducting safety conversations and compiling other reporting as necessary by the operating facility.

Driver (EC, PDP licensed)
A driver at Tubecon ensures the safe transportation of Tubecon cargo and material to and from various destinations. He is responsible for his vehicle, the cargo and the delivery cargo.
Additional responsibilities include maintaining a variety of records, such as time at each stop, purpose of trip, information about cargo, milleage and vehicle maintenance. Drivers are under direct supervision of the logistics manager from who they receive their direction and route assignments. Work is reviewed through observation and review of records.

- Drive trucks and deliver cargo and materials.
- Maintains truck logs for Tubecon's administration.
- Keeps record of materials and products transported.
- Position blocks and ties rope around items to secure cargo for transport.
- Cleans, inspects and service vehicle.
- Operates equipment on vehicle to laod, unload or disperse cargo or materials.
