Farming & Hobby Tubes Possible Defects
First Off Mill Defects
One common type of defect in cold drawn steel tubes is surface imperfections. These may include scratches, scuffs, or marks on the outer or inner surface of the tube. These defects can occur due to various reasons, such as improper lubrication, wear on the dies, or contamination of the material.
Deformity Defects
Tube deformity defects in steel tube rolling refer to manufacturing flaws or imperfections that result in the distorted shape or irregularities in the cross-sectional profile of the rolled steel tube. Common deformity defects which can be found include and are not limited to Ovality , Wall Thickness variations, Buckling and twist/helix defects.
Crossweld Defects
Crossweld defects in steel tube rolling refer to manufacturing flaws or imperfections that occur at the welded joint of a rolled steel tube. In tube rolling, when a flat strip of steel is formed into a tube shape, the edges of the strip are brought together and welded to create a continuous tube. The welded joint is susceptible to various defects, which are collectively known as crossweld defects.
Overlap Defects
When producing steel tubes through the rolling process, a flat strip of steel is formed into a tubular shape, and the edges are brought together to create a welded joint. However, if the edges do not align correctly during welding, an overlap occurs where one edge is positioned over the other instead of being properly joined.
Split Seam Defects
Split seam defects in steel tube rolling refer to manufacturing flaws or imperfections that occur when a longitudinal split or seam develops along the length of a rolled steel tube. This defect is characterized by a visible separation or opening along the weld joint or the base metal of the tube.
